Hmm... Not quite. That's true for some ghosts, especially if they were humans. They might have some grudges or some things they didn't get to do in life, so they can become shackled to one spot.

So if someone really loved this place, maybe they were unhappy to see it dirty.
But spirits... they can come from a lot of different places. From nature, or from objects. I'm the spirit of my sword. [he places his hand on the hilt of his sword, which rests at his hip] I've just been given this body by my master.
I would be sad if a place I liked wasn't well taken care of..

she looks back up at him, but with some clear awe and wonder. ] I'm glad your master gave you a body, that way we can talk.. like this! I'm also happy.. to have met you, Buzen.

[he follows along after her automatically, like he's ready to defend her just in case a ghosty does decide to jump out at them. though at her words, his expression softens]
I'm happy to have met you too, Mete-chan. It's definitely a plus to being able to have a body like this, even though I've learned a lot of different things from it.
Hm... I talked to Shale-san and they said that they think they're a person... but I don't know if that means they're a spirit, too. It seems pretty complicated to me.
